List both surfaces and note whether they are metal, painted metal, plastic, foam, glass, paper, or a low-surface-energy material. Match thickness to the assembly
Thicker foam constructions can help absorb tolerance and surface irregularities, while thin film or tissue constructions support close-fitting assemblies. The thickness should match the joint design rather than being chosen only for a higher nominal value.
Check process and converting needs
Confirm application temperature, dwell time, liner removal, die-cut shape, slit width, and monthly quantity. A converting supplier can often provide samples or a trial format before a production order is released. Compare VHB tape for structural bonding or transfer tape for thin film applications.
